We are excited to welcome our Fall Faculty Speaker: Andrea Hairston, Professor of Theatre, Professor of Africana Studies and class of ’74 to Philadelphia on October 5th at 2pm. Professor Hairston is the artistic director of Chrysalis Theatre and has created original productions with music, dance, and masks for over thirty-five years. In addition to writing plays, Professor Hairston has spoken and written extensively about Octavia Butler, theater and film, and pop culture.
Professor Hairston will be discussing her novel Redwood and Wildfire and the research that went into the book. She will do a reading from the book and then be available to answer questions and lead a discussion on science fiction, Afro-futurism, and her current projects. There will also be time for chatting with fellow alums and feasting on tasty snacks and drinks.
Location:
Neighborhood House, 20 N American Street, Philadelphia
